The Allure of Bright and Shiny Things

by Elizabeth Berger

Why do we not finish a project? I am very very close to finishing a quilt. It is a wall hanging. It is 95% quilted. I love this quilt. That is very close to done and yet I procrastinate.

A few years ago I took a Lonestar class with Sarah Bond at QuiltCon. It is a lovely lone star that just needs the wedges sewn together. Why is it in a box? Why have I not finished this and perhaps passed it onto my longarmer or quilted myself?

The assortment of current projects in a loving pile.

My proclamation this week is to finish most of my pile.

The allure of a new project is exciting to me always. I will start a new quilt tomorrow if you ask me. I am game to buy fabric, pull from my stash and if you yell “squirrel,” I will turn my head and start the new quilt.

All this being said, I am hopeful to finish a few things. Why? So, I can start more new things. Bright and shiny for the win!
